Wild Child 2 – Lilith – Mike Wells

Good Morning on this amazing sunny day! Sorry I haven’t blogged for a few days, when I haven’t been at work for ten hours I have sat in the garden soaking up some rays aaaah bliss.

I wanted to share with you the latest book that I have read on My Beloved Kindle; Wild Child 2 – Lilith by Mike Wells (click here for a link to his fab blog)

I actually won a copy of this through a competition that he ran on Twitter, where you had to tweet any name of one of his books to him and the first five tweeters won a copy of it! Woohoo I was thrilled to bits when I won as I thought I had been pipped to the post.

I really enjoyedWild Child,so I was looking forward to getting stuck into this – and I wasn’t disappointed.Wild Childwas left on a cliff hanger so I was dying to find out what happens.

This book is fast paced and you feel yourself getting sucked into the adventure, following Kyle on his own heart-racing mission towards the end of the story – which had me gripped.

It is nicely concluded, cleverly in fact when I think back across this full novel, with the possibility for it to be continued.

Highly recommended (click here to buy) and thanks again Mike Wells for my copy.

The Hunger Games – The World Will Be Watching (well, I will be, in less than 12 hours)

FRIDAY 23rd MARCH 2012

Picture from IMDB

The day is finally here!

After immersing myself in the literary world of Panem and it’s Districts over the past couple of weeks, I am now ready to be transported there and have my imagination transferred into a visual tonight and I can not contain my excitement!

So much so that I am doing this blog before I go to work as I will have by no means any time to do this afterwards – I am now heading off for a ten hour shift which is followed by a quick change of clothing then I am whizzing off to the good old Cinema Complex.

The Hunger Games – Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins

Good Morning All!

Last night I reached a celebratory milestone….I completed the third book in Suzanne Collins‘ trilogyThe Hunger Games – Mockingjay. Woohoo! I wanted them all read before going to see the film (out this Friday 23d March eeeeeekkk!!!)

Admittedly, out of all the three, the first one definitely provided that addictive drug and overwhelming compulsion that made we want to devour the whole book over two days. The two books that have followed have been extremely good, both different in their own respects, just not quite as hooking at the first.

Again, Suzanne Collins takes you on a turbulent ride with her characters in Mockingjay;

Who to trust?

Who to sympathise with?

Who to absolutely despise?

There was something that happened in this book that I did not expect; taking me by surprise and I was completely devastated by it, hoping that somehow it wouldn’t be real. However, I will not tell you as I don’t wish to give any of this book away as it is absolutely worth your time to read it.

I consider these books to have changed my life; they are thought provoking and written beautifully – an inspiration to aspiring writers to allow yourself to go to the depths of your imagination and let it run wild.

You really do fall in love with the characters and you feel their pain, their determination and their love. Suzanne Collins has provided strong characters for us to both love and hate across all three books.

I have devoured all three hand held books this month, neglecting My Beloved Kindle (don’t worry Kindle I will be back now)

Thank you so much to Andy Wright for introducing me to them and I can’t wait for our cinema trip on Friday!

If you do read anything in your lifetime, please, please, please put these on your ‘To Read’ list.

Twilight Saga – New Moon – Stephanie Meyer

SUNDAY 18th MARCH  2012

Evening Ladies and Gents, I hope you have all had a lovely day on this Mothering Sunday.

I wanted to update my blog with where I am at with my reading.

As of Friday – I had three books on the go; Wild Child 2 – Lilath which I am reading on My Beloved Kindle following winning a comp on Twitter playing fastest finger first to tweet to Author, Mike Wells, a name of one of his novels; The Hunger Games – Catching Fire in the form of na ordinary book and, feeling a bit neglected on My Beloved Kindle, New Moon.

I managed to complete New Moon during sporadic moments of peace during the wee small hours on night-shift on Friday.

I must admit I have had this book on the go for the past couple of months and it has taken a back seat following my discovery of the amazing The Hunger Games trilogy.

Now, I am probably being controversial and going against popular belief – and I do apologise and I hope I don’t offend; but basically, I haven’t been that enthralled by the Twilight books. Admittedly, I felt left out not getting sucked into the Twilight phenomena and that is why I have decided to read the books this year.

The storyline is good, just not really my cup of tea and I find myself now comparing these books to The Hunger Games, which basically had me at hello and I have been obsessed with ever since (cinema tickets already booked for the film – out on Friday 23rd March folks) and I now know and appreciate what makes a good book.

Sadly, I have yet to feel this compulsion for any of the Twilight books. I will read the other two books but I am afraid to say I am not a massive fan  (a huge sorry to my Twilight loving friends.)

The Hunger Games – Catching Fire – Suzanne Collins

I have just this moment put down the  second book  in Suzanne Collins’s trilogy The Hunger Games and I had to dive straight onto my Laptop so I could harp on about how much I am LOVING these books!

What makes a good book is when you are so absorbed in it that you don’t realise time fleeting passed you (I went to have an ‘early night’ at 10pm, only to realise I was so engrossed I hadn’t realised two hours had gone by – with me having to be up for Early shift at 5.30am! zzzz) Never mind – it was worth every page.

So this afternoon I have curled up on my settee after having an early finish (woohoo!) from work, and devoured this masterpiece.

Suzanne Collin’s has the ability to suck you into a fast paced, action packed adventure where you can fully immerse yourself amongst the story and believe that you are right there – in the thick of it – with our heroine Katniss Everdeen. She has a way of building up your anticipation by pulling you through the emotions; lulling you into a sense of security at times throughout the book, only for this to be shattered in a matter of words and leave you wondering, ‘What the hell is going to happen now?’, ‘How are they going to deal with this one’ and the most important part of story telling ‘I want to read on and know more! Know where it is going!’

I love the idea behind these books, so unique and well thought-out, as well as how they ignite your imagination and you can get lost in them.

I now have the third (and final – sob!) book to start on Mockingjay.

I can’t WAIT for the films! (First one out March 23 2012 – view trailer here)

What makes writing all worth while….

I just wanted to share a little something that made me smile and that made all the hours I poured into my writing all worth while…

Apart from the genuine pleasure I receive  when I have written a story – even getting as far as Self Publishing it and seeing those words in print, encased in a cover of their own – nothing comes close to the sheer joy of someone else appreciating your work.

That joy came in the form of a Thank You card from a girl whose Aunt bought her my book The Ruby of Egypt for her birthday.

It’s little moments like this that are so rewarding.

A Piece of HeART

FRIDAY 09th MARCH 2012

I have spent a lovely morning in the company of a couple of my closest friends, who I have known and shared my life with since I was at First School. We went to a lovely wine and bistro bar in Tynemouth called Luis.

‘Wine Bar?’ I hear you ask.

Yes – however they do lovely breakfasts and the only drink consumed were lovely cups of tea followed by fairly healthy breakfasts – mine consisting of Poached Eggs and Smoked Salmon on a toasted muffin with Hollandaise Sauce yum yum.

The conversation flowed and we all got excited about a new business that one of my friends has just set up;

If you think of the words, she will create the heARTwork.

Her fabulous idea came when she did her own timeline of main events that have occurred in her and her husband’s life that they have shared together, in which she produced a ‘Marriage TimeLine’.

I loved it so much I fired an email straight away asking for one of my own; The Fairytale of Mister and MissusWolf:

Her ideas are fab and unique; you can request one’s for New Baby’s, New Home’s, funny little quotes…basically anything you want she will design!

They are great gift ideas and perfect with Mother’s Day coming up.

Please view her website by clicking here.

You can also Follow her on Twitter @APieceOfHeART and ‘Like’ her Facebook Page.

She loves the amazing Katie Piper and recently designed a TimeLine of shows and events she has been involved in, which she then posted to her as a gift. Katie Piper has replied to her on Twitter thanking her for the beautiful artwork saying it was touching and personalised and that it is now hanging in her bedroom in her house.

I am so proud of her and what she has achieved in the past few weeks. I love my TimeLine and it hangs proudly in my Flat.

If you want to have one like the fabulous Katie Piper and the ordinary author/blogger me…get clicking now!
